About Me
Being diagnosed with a heart muscle disease at the age of 3 months, I have been a lifelong member of the chronic illness community. I was fortunate enough to receive a heart transplant back in 2003, so I am also a long-standing member of the transplant community. Having an invisible illness is a natural part of life for me and it's the reason why I chose to focus on and specialize in working with others who have a chronic illness and/or organ transplant.

I am an avid runner and I have completed over 15 half-marathons. I also enjoy reading and spending time with friends and family. I am always up for an adventure. I am a work in progress when it comes to website design and blogging.
Academically, I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling, both from Sam Houston State. Eat 'em up kats! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I am also a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. I am certified through the V.A. to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy to Individuals who have PTSD. I have worked with adult and child survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have worked extensively with adults diagnosed with depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. I have also worked with Individuals on probation and parole to provide therapy and reintegrate them back into society.
